Hi. I've been involved in the health and fitness industry for over 15 years now, 13 of those as a qualified 1-2-1 and group fitness trainer. Post college, I worked full time for a couple of large corporate health clubs as a fitness instructor, before completing my level 3 personal trainer and sports massage therapist diploma through Premier Global. In 2003 I opened Phoenix Personal Training and Sports Therapy, delivering 1-2-1 fitness solutions throughout Edinburgh and West Lothian. Believing the integral link between the mind and body, I've also completed my NLP practitioners certificate.
In addition to Phoenix, in 2012 I launched Synergy Group Fitness. I wanted to create a group fitness experience which was inclusive, challenging, rewarding and fun. 2 years on from that, my team and I opened the first alternative and functional fitness facility in Livingston as we as continuing to deliver group fitness 5 nights a week in Edinburgh.
For me, personal training and fitness has always been about two things, ensuring my clients love their fitness experience and that they are getting the results they'd expect from their hard work.

Following on from completing an honours degree in Sports & Exercise Science, I worked for David Lloyd Health Clubs as a personal trainer, where I helped a number of my clients achieve their goals and ambitions.
Wanting to develop my knowledge and experience further, I returned to full time education where I completed a Masters in Strength and Conditioning from Edinburgh University. During this period, I also worked part-time as a strength and conditioning coach with high level athletes as well as continuing to look after my personal training clients.
I've been involved in competitive sport from an early age representing at university and international level, and personally benefitted from my time with the East of Scotland Institute of Sport.
I'm passionate for fitness and nutrition and believe nutrition to be an essential part of a healthy lifestyle along with physical exercise. I specialize in nutritional advice, weight management and body shape toning. Through my experience, motivation and support you will enjoy and get the very best from your training.

After completing his Degree in Sports Development, Ross wanted to help both athletes and the general public get the most from their training. For this, the natural move for him was into 1-2-1 personal training and sports specific S&C coaching. Working at Banntynes Health Club for a 3years Ross had the opportunity to help a high volume of clients from all ranges of fitness level and training background to maximize their training time and the results they achieved.
Ross has always had health and fitness in my blood and played sport from a young age. He was fortunate to represent Scotland and Great Britain in Rugby League as a player and also help the Scotland U19 Rugby League squad as a coach.
Recognizing the importance of quality strength and conditioning coaching within sporting performance, Ross completed his level 1 UKSCA qualification and is currently working towards his Level 2. During this period Ross worked with Currie Rugby Club U18 and U21 Scotland training squad player, Luke Crosbie, with his sport specific strength and conditioning coaching. Ross also currently works with Cameron Harrison, Scottish Rugby League U19 and Students squad member and Edinburgh U21 member to develop his S&C within the sport.
Following 8 years in the retail industry managing an events and fancy dress business, I re-qualified as an administrator, which is now only part of my role within Synergy. For most of our clients, I am the first and main point of contact for all online, bookings and account queries, as well as daily class management and customer relations. In addition to this I also teach a couple of KettleFit classes in Edinburgh.
I am a keen exerciser and if you’re at any of our Edinburgh classes, you will no doubt see me there, working hard but with a smile on my face.

Amy has been part of the Synergy/Phoenix coaching team for a number of years now, mainly part time whilst completing her Degree at Edinburgh University, then moving to full time post university. During this time Amy also completed her level 3 personal trainer certificates along with a number of other coaching certificates including kettlebell and nutrition for sports performance.
Amy is passionate for every aspect of health and fitness, in particular positive health and sports nutrition coaching and sustainable weight management and sports performance. Through Synergy she has worked with a number of sports teams and individual athletes, helping them with their sports nutrition requirements and strength and conditioning coaching.
With over 10 years in the health and fitness industry, Denise isn't short of experience as a personal trainer. Denise works with a wide and varied range of clients and prides herself in being able to engage with each and every one, helping them achieve the best they can with their training and diet.
After picking up a significant knee injury through her main hobby, martial arts, Denise changed her own personal fitness training direction into one which was more focused on strength and conditioning, where she now excels.
